Short Bio

Thom and Kim started attending St. Luke’s on Fr. Doug Folsom’s last Sunday, having read online about the congregation’s determination to stand for Christ and biblical orthodoxy. Rejoicing in an opportunity to return to the Anglican tradition in an orthodox parish after an absence of 20 years, they soon after became members.

Thom first came to faith in high school, having been raised in the Methodist tradition by very godly parents. He soon thereafter found his spiritual home in an Episcopal congregation of a charismatic expression, and was further discipled at a nearby charismatic Catholic friary. His education and career in set design first took him to work at the Christian Broadcasting Network in Virginia Beach, and eventually to New York City where he met Kim at an Episcopal Cursillo; they married in February of 1984. While there, they were members of the parish of Calvary-St. George’s-Holy Communion, where Thom served on the vestry, taught the teenage class, and was a leader in the homeless shelter ministry.

Since moving to the west coast almost 25 years ago until joining St. Luke’s Anglican, Thom and Kim have had difficulty finding a church home that combined a liturgical heritage and orthodox belief. They have been members of Christian Assembly in Eagle Rock, and of Pasadena Covenant Church, where Thom filled leadership roles both in small groups and served a Vice-Chair on the Trustee Council.

Thom and Kim currently host a small group and the Pasadena Anglican Fellowship, and have participated in the Alpha course.    Their daughter, Tonya, who was adopted at age 12, is currently living with them, pursuing a career in film.
