Posted: 11/01/2012 - 1:35pm From the Pastor’s Desk… This morning, I spent a bit of time reading up on the tradition of All Saints Day which as I write is tomorrow and which we will celebrate on November 4th (the nearest Sunday to All Saints Day). Originally, early Christians had a tradition of celebrating the lives of those brothers and sisters in Christ who were martyred for their faith. But sometimes, many ordinary Christians were... |

Posted: 10/29/2012 - 3:23pm It has been said that the Church is the family of God. Families, of course, are complicated things – full of all kinds of complicated relationships, challenges to be overcome and joys to be celebrated and shared. We talk about our ‘immediate family’ by which we mean our nuclear family that lives together under one roof and we also talk about our ‘extended family’ by which we mean other relatives, near and far. We, at St.... |

Posted: 10/29/2012 - 3:20pm Greetings Friends and Families of St. Luke’s Anglican Church. This is my favorite season. We are finally seeing a cooling trend in the weather…the kids are ready to pull out their sweaters for our 70-degree California winter. As we look forward to various Fall Festivals and of course Thanksgiving, we are right on the doorstep of Advent. Don’t worry, I’ll be keeping the autumn theme happening in Sunday... |

Posted: 08/30/2012 - 2:36pm I am convinced that I am the most blessed youth pastor in the whole world. There really isn’t any doubt in my mind. This summer was an absolutely fantastic one in our youth ministry. Thanks are in order: First, God – for showing up and guiding us with His Holy Spirit; also: to the families in our youth ministry, both parents and teens, who took the initiative to make things happen. In my previous youth ministry experience, I... |

Posted: 08/30/2012 - 1:45pm I hope everyone has had a good summer. My children are back in school, so for me it is officially over. It was good, sweet even, far too short – where did the time go? – and I am ready to dive in for the new year. I hope you are too! Kick Off This year’s kick off is titled “Tacos and Testimonies.” You guessed it, we will have a series of testimonies interspersed with scriptures and songs with the theme, “Declaring... |

Posted: 08/21/2012 - 3:05pm Dear St. Luke’s Family, Thank you for your support of our trip to Uganda. It was amazing! Trying to describe this experience doesn’t do it justice. We were humbled to see how people live, as they are content with very little, are very welcoming and hospitable. The people of the Diocese of Luweero were very grateful that you sent people to them- they were really honored to have us there. They send their greetings to you! There... |

Posted: 08/21/2012 - 2:53pm Greetings Friends and Families of St. Luke’s Anglican Church! As we try our best to stay cool in these very hot days at the end of summer, it seems odd to be sending our children back to school. Didn’t we just have our graduation celebrations? We have been enjoying our summer in Sunday School with lots of singing a Bible stories. In Jr. Church, we have been preparing our kids to head back to school fully equipped by learning about the... |

Posted: 05/03/2012 - 1:49pm Hello Friends and Families of St. Luke’s Anglican Church! I honestly can’t recall whether Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow or not on Groundhogs day, but it feels like spring has arrived early. Though this is Southern California and we could get our winter in April, May, or even June…so better to focus on the church calendar and what we are celebrating rather than rely on the expected weather of the season to tell us what time... |

Posted: 04/29/2012 - 10:55pm Most of you are familiar with the Soup Group Ministry, which began as a ministry to the elderly. The age range, which has expanded to include 2 or 3 generations these days, gather on the 3rd Wednesday of each month to enjoy lunch, provided by the Soup Group with a social time following the 11:30 Eucharist, at Lutheran Church in the Foothills. It is a blessed ministry just as it is. None the less the Soup Group folks have taken their show on the road.
